Meander Announces Family Jubilee III VA, Featuring DeWalta, Cristi Cons, Christopher Ledger And More
Listen to our premiere of the hallucinatory ‘Estromanium’ by abstract house master DeWalta
Meander needs little or no introduction - the Berlin-based label has been craving a specific sound that you must have crossed if you are into anything close to modern hallucinatory deep techno of the kind of you would hear at Sunwaves at 6 in the morning. Self-described as “carefully selected deep techno and adventurous house music on vinyl”, the label has been releasing records of incredible quality from iconic artists such as DeWalta, Ion Ludwig, Cristi Cons and more, which of many had careers brought to the next level by their Meander outputs.
And lately, they have been on fire too - 2020 saw two outstanding releases from the likes of Alci and Pîrvu which we definitely recommend putting your hands on. Into 2021, the label just announced their third “Family Jubilee” VA, part of the series of compilations showcasing the label’s talent in 360°. We have bouncy and dark grooves from Christopher Ledger, a fresh house hi-hats work by Pîrvu and an epic-strings downtempo narrative delivered by Sublee on the first of the two records. The second one feels closer to the classic Meander sound, with a recognizable yet enthralling Cristi Cons tune on the A1 and a hypnotic minimal groove by Topper. But we are more than proud to share with you through our Youtube channel the final track of the VA to listen to in full - ‘Estromanium’ by DeWalta is our hard-to-pick favourite in this outstanding release, a 10-minutes deep and modulated lysergic progression pushing the DeWalta sound into even more unexplored realms. When the rhythm is removed and all that’s left at the end of the track are the muddy processed basslines and atmospheric synth lines, it truly feels like waking up from a lucid dream. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
