Superlux Records announce their 8th release with Paul Blackford's "Weekend Warrior" EP after a great run of EPs and contributions from artists like N-Gynn, Desert Sound Colony, Voigtmann, Dawl & Subb-an.

Active in the electro scene since the early 2000’s, Paul Blackford has had a fresh approach to the UK electro bass sound, releasing on various notable labels such as Breakin' Records, Central Processing Unit and WéMè Records. Four of Paul's numerous electro WIPs (both new and old) were picked for a mixdown in Thoma Bulwer's studio, and the result was the "Weekend Warrior" EP.

"Cloaking Device" initiates the record's upbeat tone with bold elements and a playful, acidic bassline. Introducing soothing pads to suit the sharp electro percussions, the artist juggles between dreamy and dancy in this sweet dancefloor piece.

“The EP is Undoubtedly a blast of energy that showcases Paul Blackford's skill and versatility as a producer”

Next up on the A-side we have “Liquid”, continuing the uplifting vibe while the release transitions into a housey mood. The track builds up in a quite thrilling manner, maintaining the electro elements from the very first beat and adding some distinctive touches with the bouncy organ synths.

The B-side opening features some hefty breaks and a deep thick bass which would make any dancefloor shake. While listening to "Super Creep” you can feel how the modern perky synths enhance the track's dynamism and the Detroit Electro spirit. Finally, "Weekend Warrior" concludes the disc with an ideal tune to play at the peak of the night, delivering another delicious breakbeat followed by emotional choral pads.

Undoubtedly a blast of energy that showcases Paul Blackford's skill and versatility as a producer, the EP is a great addition to the Superlux collection and we are definitely looking forward to hearing more.
