Some Cool Releases - November 2022

A bunch of releases struck us recently

This list does not claim to be a complete overview of the best releases or anything of that kind. As the Summer is well-over and we start spending more time at home looking for the latest hot releases, we just noticed how there had been a swarm of new records and music which deserve attention. Some freshly released, some out soon, some out in some time. There’s something for everyone in this list and we hope that among these you’ll find a special pick to add to your playlist in sight of your Thursday residency, top-notch club debut, or even just your next home DJ session with your friends.

*releases are in alphabetic order

AF001 // AirFunk 001 - Sweely, Arnic, Aline Umber

I’m a sucker for Sweely’s music and I can’t help it, so when I saw the first track on the new label ‘Airfunk’ of Maxime dB and Aline Umber by Sweely, I was already sold. The whole EP did not let down with outstanding works by Arnic and Aline Umber himself too. Airfunk is funky, exciting, kind of poppy, and intensively groovy. More of this, please!

Pre-order

BM18 // Dana Kuehr

Top-notch work from Dana Kuhers on the latest Basic Moves. Highly processed samples and heavenly synth bland into a crunchy mix of ravey house, left-field bass music, and suspended techno atmospheres. Not a shy record - and something forward-thinking underground dancefloor music should aim for.

COLLAB01 - System Error x Tresydos - Various Artists

Tresydos and System Error join forces for the first release of the new collaboratives series of the latter. The two labels take care of each side and combine some of the usual suspects for some dancefloor deliverance. Proper house bounciness.

Out soon

DEF005 // D:fferent Place 005

Properly made deep-house, late-night vibes winking at the Larry Heard sound, blissful string progressions. This record has everything to become another much sought-after D:fferent Place classic. After some delays, it will be finally making it to your favourite record shop’s shelves next month.

Out soon

Kimchi004 // TRO - Essential Cervix

Tro nails a futuristic soundscape aesthetic in his latest endeavor for the Kimchi Record Label. You got the submerged pads of the introductory track, spaceship turbo electro all over the place, and some visionary trip-hop in between. One not to miss.

OTP003 // Bakked - Jungle Generation

Outcast Planet is back, showcasing another one of the best talents of the Italian scene. Bakked delivers ‘Jungle Generation’ with character; coarse drum machines, trancy anthems, and banging house grooves. A spicy record that's very suitable for the new generation of ravers.

SAIS004 // VA - Sounds of Transonic

Our hearted-out support for Junki Inoue’s SAISEI label is not a secret. The label does an amazing job at re-issuing underlooked 90s Japanese electronic music and we are always looking forward to the new ones. The freshly released fourth record includes spacy techno crafts, jazzy downtempo, and left-field sonic experimentations. We particularly recommend the track ‘Dream Trance’ by Mind Design… Mind-blowing.

SENTAKU007 // Man/ipulate - Watatsumi

A bit late on this one but had to include it - one of my favorite records released this year, Sentaku 007 by Man/ipulate released in September struck all the right chords for a fun, stylish 4/4 EP. Playful house that knows how to deliver without sounding pushy.

(Unfortunately) Sold Out

TAN 004 // Caleb Jackson, Magic Miro, Dj Jim & Mr. Freeze

The latest release of Bizarre Trax sub-label’s TAN comes just in time to celebrate the last sunbeams of the very late Indian Summer this fall. The funky levels in this VA are high, with boisterous tracks that play around beach house moods and dancefloor-heavy grooves. Four pool party delights.

UF007LP // Darren Allen & T-X-Heaven - Blind Summit

I wasn’t familiar with Darren Allen and his label Underlying Form before coming across this release - what a finding! Obscure garage, rolling dark house, neatly broken beats, and much more. The record by Darren Allen & T-X-Heaven features nine tracks and each feel like a special finding, check it out.

WLTD005 // Frhanks - Spring EP

Somehow, while meeting at the crossroads of jazz, minimal and melodic house, the latest Welt Discos by Frhanks delivers three colorful tracks that feel like a breath of fresh air. On this one, I especially love the ineffable melodies and also the way the rhythms are highly syncopated. A lovely record.
