Atree’s ‘Time For Spirits’ Is Out Now On Tresydos

The funky tech-house wizard strikes all the right groove chords with the new record

‘Time For Spirits’ Cover

Madrid-based label ‘tresydos’ has been summoning some outstanding music recently - their latest record featured British producer on the rise Ed Hodge, delivering some enlightening underground sonorities merging fast-paced house music, breakbeat, and groovy basslines (which seem to be a landmark when we talk tresydos-stamped music), but also some very interesting digital-only releases which kept up the intensity between a record and another (I’m thinking of the floating rave beats of Mpeg’s ‘The Splits’ for instance).

Producer behind TYD007, Atree

In short, it would be an understatement to say we were excited about this new record, but Atree’s take on the tresydos defies all expectations. Unapologetically funky, charged with fun dancefloor vibes and delayed background sounds that will give you the right trip at the afterparty, Time For Spirits hits all the right chords for a groovy coup from the very first piece, the title-track (which we are also proud to premiere here in full):

The track feels mostly focused on its driving bassline, but as it progresses it’s the infusion of spaced-out vocal samples, filtered background sounds and a catchy melody coming in when least expected that rapidly make it iconic. The record revolves around this particular funky yet underground tech-house style - you got the faster-pace beat of ‘Cowgirl Funk’, the low frequencies craziness of ‘2000s’ and the beautiful softer harmonic work of the B2 ‘Outriders’. All in all, this record marks itself as an instant classic where it’s hard to say which track is going to get more plays through the summer - one thing for sure, you’re going to hear the funky tech-house sound of Time For Spirits quite a lot of you’re going for the Summer of Love 2022.

The record also comes with two bonus tracks for free download for whoever is buying it on Bandcamp - the Carl Finlow inspired sound of ‘Line Dance’ and the atmospheric breakbeat acid patterns of ‘Star Sheriff’.
