New Record Dealer “Blindspot” Aims To Disrupt Discogs Hypes

The project offers undisclosed record gems through a system that escapes hyped-up online effects

For anyone that buys records online, it is no secret how the central role of discogs and the related price setting in the used records market often gets insanely infatuated. It takes a few plays from Francesco Del Garda or the hottest latest headliner selector for the price of a 90s record to skyrocket. And apart from this hype effect, the price is often decided by the records’ rarity rather than the quality of the music - scarcity leads the price up. Despite the obvious value of the object for vinyl records, this can often leave a DJ digging online looking at the price of the record he wants to buy rather than focusing their attention on the tracks and style of the music.

Blindspot is a project born from deep devotion for underground music and aimed at breaking some of these processes that make digging focus on the monetary aspect of records rather than the music. Its goal is to provide DJs and obscure music enthusiasts with under the radar gems that escape the Discogs hype.

How is this done?

On Blindspot’s Instagram page, you will find audio clips with a pic where you can listen to the best bits from a record. These come with a brief description of the music and how many copies are left - there is no price, no artist, no label, no further information to find the record elsewhere. This leaves you with purely enjoying the music and picking what you like best. When you find something special that you like to acquire, just write the page in the DM and arrange the details directly with Blindspot.

You can browse their record selection here.

Blindspot also offers free shipping for orders of more than 100€ for Italy and more than 150€ for other EU countries. In the next months, Blindspot plans to widen its operations, starting its own party series and label.
